How we calculate

RER is estimated using 70 × weight in kilograms0.75. A transparent species and life-stage multiplier is then applied. Food portions use the calorie density you enter from the packaging.

Why calorie requirements vary

Age, growth, neuter status, activity, body condition, breed, environment and health can affect energy requirements. Use the result as a starting estimate and monitor your pet.
