What we do

Our free tool estimates RER, daily calorie needs, food amount, meal portions and treat allowance without an account or payment.

Why the calculator exists

Pet-food labels can be difficult to translate into a daily portion. ZyZig makes the maths easier while clearly explaining the assumptions and limitations.

How we calculate

We first estimate Resting Energy Requirement (RER) using 70 × body weight in kilograms^0.75. We then apply a dog- or cat-specific life-stage multiplier. Food quantity is calculated from the calorie information on your pet-food label. Results are starting estimates because individual needs vary.
